Vineyard Wind, the nation’s largest offshore wind project, is now fully operational near Martha’s Vineyard, WBUR reported Nov. 6.
The Massachusetts offshore development reached the milestone after a process spanning more than eight years, according to the station. The announcement marks the culmination of that lengthy effort to bring the project into full operation.
Its arrival at that stage followed closely behind a separate milestone for offshore wind in the region. Revolution Wind had announced just hours earlier that it had reached full power, WBUR reported.
The two announcements put Vineyard Wind and Revolution Wind at the center of a closely timed pair of operational milestones for regional offshore energy projects. For Vineyard Wind, the news establishes that the development near Martha’s Vineyard is fully running after years in the making.
