AI-assisted reporting
Boston Weekly uses AI tools to help gather and summarize public news from Boston and Massachusetts outlets and government sources. Every article is an original synthesis written in our own words. We never copy sentences from other publications, and we never republish the full text of paywalled stories.
Sourcing and attribution
- Every story lists the sources it drew from in a “Sources” box with links.
- We aim to confirm facts across more than one source.
- Direct quotes from public officials are attributed to the outlet that first reported them.
- We only state facts found in our sources. If sources disagree, we say so. We don't invent quotes, numbers, names or outcomes.
Sensitive stories
For stories about crime, courts, deaths, health or minors, we use only facts reported by at least two sources. We never name minors or victims. An editor reviews these stories before they're published.
Images
Images labeled “Illustration: Boston Weekly” are editorial illustrations — Boston scenery, landmarks, objects or symbolic scenes. We never generate images of real, identifiable people or images that could be mistaken for photos of actual events.
Bylines
Stories are credited to “Boston Weekly Staff” along with the desk that covers the beat.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and add a note to the story explaining what changed. To request a correction, contact us.
